ULTRASOUND
We provide services in Obstetrics through the Family Prenatal Centre, including dating scans, nuchal translucency (NT) screening, anatomy scans, biophysical profile (BPP), growth scans, and other miscellaneous scans. We are considered the high-risk centre for our region. We pioneered 4D (i.e., live 3D) imaging in the region and continue to offer this service. All obstetric and gynecological exams are reviewed and interpreted by an obstetrician with special training.

We are the pioneers of musculoskeletal (MSK) scanning of the tendons, ligaments, muscles, and bursa associated with shoulders, knees, elbows, wrists/hands, fingers, ankles/feet, toes, and hips.

Other ultrasound services include those of the abdomen, urinary tract, thyroid, scrotum, breast, and vasculature. All other tests are reviewed and interpreted by a Radiologist.
This service is located at both Thunder Bay Medical Centre site and the 10th Ave location. ​
Enhanced Imaging
Ultrasound uses ultrahigh-frequency sound waves to produce an image of body organs, blood vessels, muscles, tendons, ligaments, or fetuses. The image is refreshed over 30 times per second during live scanning. The professional performing the scan is known as a Sonographer or Ultrasound Tech and all of our technologists are members in good standing with the College of Medical Radiological and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).​
